Paper Punk

It was only a year ago that Paper Punk had its first real display with a full product line and a story to tell at a trade show at the Javits. Twelve months, fourteen cities, and thousands of flight miles later, I'm sitting in a hotel room at the Ace the night before the NY gift fair, again. With cola gummies and smart water in hand, I'm celebrating....for logging the miles, for showing up despite the fatigue, for taking one step at time no matter how blindingly dark the uncertainty got at times, for learning to be a little more patient with myself and everything, and for simply making it through the year. Things that endure and have longevity in this world are not born overnight, so I know Paper Punk becoming the legacy toy for the 21st century will take many years. What can I say -- One down and more to go! It's happening.

This just up on the Dwell.com blog! Forgot to mention that we won a Dwell on Design 2014 best Modern Family exhibit award! Here is a pic of Kelly Wahlstrom (L) and Grace Hawthorne (R) accepting the award onstage at the show. Oooo...and here's a close-up of the super handsome award which was hand carried on the plane ride home. 

Little did we know how big and spectacular a paper metropolis from our Urban Fold kit could be...and the mobs of people attending the Dwell on Design show in Los Angeles showed up and showed us. Everyone tall and small got their Paper Punk on and built this!!!! We were floored. High fives to those of you who had a hand in what was truly a sight to behold.

We are so happy to share the news that Paper Punk's URBAN FOLD took home a Parents' Choice Award 2014 this year! Yes, my Mom was pleased/proud for a golden minute. This really is an honor given that the Parents' Choice Foundation has been around for over 30 years and exists for the greater good. Giving thanks, feeling blessed, and powering up for one helleva 2014! (IE: Paper Punk heading to Atlanta, Dallas, Vegas, and Los Angeles in January….ack!)

“Hi Grace….Juniper (age 3) and I just built “The World’s Greatest Vampire”. I did the folding, she did most of the sticking and the stickers. It was a fun little project. She is playing with her new friend now.”

We’re working our tails off to get kids, tweens, teens, and adults alike to keep their creative-minds-via-their-hands busy with our mission that is Paper Punk. So, we were tickled purple when Nickelodeon invited us to make TMNT (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) Paper Punk kits. What better gateway to exercise your brain than with bad-ass, pizza-loving, evil-fighting turtles…Waaaaaay cool. The cat is out of the bag thanks to a Fox News segment this morning live from Toy Preview in Dallas. Check it:
